The concept of FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE was visualised in 2015 by the D.U.E.L.S. executive team at the time, but after the first issue was published in 2015, the project did not continue.

In 2019, D.U.E.L.S. decided to relaunch the magazine under the editorial management of their publicity officer, Julia Merican. She recruited a brand new team with fellow students Emily Ulmer, Lizzie Wilmot, Constance Lam, Isabella Newstead, and Natasha Ketel. After only one meeting in person before the emergence of the global pandemic, the team began working remotely on the first issue of the magazine, online-only for the time being, but with hopes of making it to print in the years to come.

The first issue since the relaunch, ISSUE ONE: ISOLATION, was published on the 6th of July, 2020.

In July 2020, Lizzie Wilmot was appointed as the upcoming Editor-in-Chief for 2020/21. Continuing alongside Constance, Isabella and Natasha, they gathered a new team of editors in October and ISSUE TWO: TENSION, was published on the 10th January 2021, followed by ISSUE THREE: CONTACT on the 26th April 2021 and ISSUE FOUR: REFLECTION on 1st August 2021.

Natasha Ketel then became Editor-in-Chief alongside Sarah Henderson and Anjali Mulcock as Deputy Editors from 2021 - 2022, publishing ISSUE FIVE: LIGHT, ISSUE SIX: WAVES, and ISSUE SEVEN: BRIDGES, with the summer issue being our first ever in print.

The current team is led by Anjali Mulcock as Editor-in-Chief, with Mia Hyde and Rory McAlpine as Deputy Editors. Our latest issue is ISSUE EIGHT: HOME, the second print issue of many more to come.
